Areas Where HTC Has Made Improvements

  • The first major improvement is in the processor. The jump from Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 to 7 Gen 3 is noticeable. While the 7 Gen 1 was a capable CPU for everyday use, the 7 Gen 3 can handle even heavier tasks. If numbers matter to you, the SD 7 Gen 1 scores around 670,000 in AnTuTu V10, while the SD 7 Gen 3 scores around 860,000.
  • The cameras have also seen improvements. Although the resolution has decreased from 108MP to 50MP, the actual sensor has been upgraded. While the company hasn’t disclosed the sensor name, the information we’ve gathered suggests an improvement. The remaining cameras have also been enhanced.
  • Display quality has been improved in terms of color accuracy and brightness. Additionally, the fingerprint scanner is now under the display instead of side-mounted like in the HTC U23 Pro.
  • The design has undergone significant improvements, moving from flat to curved edges, with noticeably reduced bezels.
  • Charging speed has increased from 30W to 60W wired charging. The HTC U24 Pro also supports 5W reverse wireless charging, while the phone’s wireless charging remains at 15W.
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi versions have also been upgraded.

These are the significant upgrades you get on the HTC U24 Pro.

Areas Where HTC Could Have Improved

  • The first major improvement needed was in the battery capacity. Unfortunately, the battery size remains the same as on the HTC U23 Pro, which was just decent. While there might have been improvements in software optimization, it seems unlikely that actual battery life will see a significant boost.
  • The pricing is slightly on the higher side at €564. HTC must meet expectations to justify this price tag. The on-paper specs look impressive, but only if they deliver as expected will the €564 price tag be justified.
  • They should have included a charger in the box.

Please note that as we get our hands on the device, we will clearly assess more real-life differences. Nevertheless, the above differences are expected to be the most likely outcomes.

Our Thoughts

If you ask us, the predecessor, the HTC U23 Pro, was a decent device. It didn’t excel in every department but did a respectable job.

For example, the cameras were decent, the battery was unimpressive, the display lacked brightness, and the refresh rate was stuttery, among other things.

If HTC improves in all these areas and provides a stable experience, then it could be a great device.

So far, from a specs standpoint, the HTC U24 Pro seems like a solid option.
